La Lys is a river in northern France, located primarily in the Hauts-de-France region. It flows for 206 kilometers from its source in the Pas-de-Calais department to its mouth at the English Channel in the Nord department. The river is also known as the Leie in Belgium, where it flows through the province of West Flanders. La Lys played an important strategic role during World War I, as it flowed through the site of several major battles between German and Allied forces. Today, the river is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and other outdoor activities.
